I’ve been a busy bee with interviews and blog appearances lately! Here’s some of what I’ve been up to.

Did you know that I draw inspiration from antiques auctions? I wrote a guest post for Jera’s Jamboree called “Antiques Auctions for the Creative Mind” in which I shared the kinds of things I find at auctions (very different than you might expect!), how auctions help me with my Dark Victoriana Collection research, and why it’s actually great that I find so many things that aren’t from the Victorian era. You’ll also see some pictures I took of things I find inspiring too.

It was an absolute pleasure to be interviewed on The Fierce Female Network by Adrienne F. Manson. She’s a wonderful host, and she asked me very different questions, including discussing any book clubs I’ve started or participated in (OMG my Goodreads fantasy book club/reading challenge story…), my research into the psychology of cult leaders for Brotherhood of Secrets, how Facebook author takeovers work (including the one I just recently participated in), and more. We got really detailed, which was a wonderful experience.

One of my author friends, Jason LaVelle, recently started a podcast called The Raven, which includes a reading of a short story followed by an interview with the author. I love the concept, and I was honored to be one of his first guests! Here’s my interview on The Raven, during which Jason reads “The Subtlety of Terror” and we talk about the difference between terror and horror as well as how to “work” that difference in storytelling, plus lots more.

In a couple of days, I’m off to the Liberty States Fiction Writer’s Conference, where I’ll be taking pitches as an acquiring editor. If you’re going, see you there!
